What a great year 2005 has been for Henlow Cricket Club.

Congratulations to all the teams on their success, Saturday, both Sunday and the colts XI's, the details of which will appear later on in the handbook.

Well done to all those involved and the many, many personal achievements throughout the year.

The committee for 2005 under the chairmanship for the first time of Guy Warmoth should be congratulated for their efforts. There were a number of new faces on the committee and it takes a little while to gel, but they have guided the club through a very eventful year. I am delighted that Guy and the majority of the committee have been re-elected for a second term.

There have been many highlights in the year particular in the field of play, well documented in this publication, but I will mention my delight at the success of Tim Hancock's benefit game; the first we have fully organised ourselves. We must have connections with higher places to provide the superb weather, which made the day. Thanks must be given to Lee Sinclair for his contribution to the lion's share of the organisation. Hopefully it will give us the confidence to host this type of event in the future.

The final highlight of the year must be the first overseas tour for the club, organised by Phil Chudley, to Barbados in November, what a fantastic experience for all those going. It even prompted club stalwart Nick Stock to finally pop the question to his long suffering partner, Karen, and marry when over there. Congratulations to them both.

Such highlights occur only because the club has a great infrastructure of help given voluntarily and once again many thanks to sponsors, in particular Raj at Clifton Cuisine for his generous contribution, vice presidents, tea providers, scorers, umpires, ground staff and the continual support of Henlow Sports and Social Club.

In our season of such success there were some low points, we lost to Langford! The endless rain on President's day, the teams tried very hard to play but was eventually beaten back by the weather
